deadline [22 May 2009|02:12pm]
Last friday I interviewed and I was told that I'd be contacted by Friday to let me know if I get the job.

The person that principally interviewed me (of the 3) seems very positive. she had spoke about prepping letters to send to the other interviewers. She also said that they had received some internal transfer requests that they have to interview due to HR regulations and that was the cause for the delay on offering me the job.

when the interview was over and I was told I'd have an answer by next friday I responded that I'd see them next week then.

No reply so far and the day is halfway done. I went into the interview confident I'd get it. The position was for Harrahs in Tunica MS. I have 8+ years experiencing working their helpdesk from Park Place to Caesars to Harrahs. I know a lot of history and while I was only a phone jockey the entire time, I PAID ATTENTION to any opportunity to learn new things.

They said they didn't want someone with specific skills, but someone that was spread around and could pick up on things. THATS ME! I can't imagine anyone having the experience I have about Harrahs. I've been through Hotel constructions, Casino software conversions, night audits, accounting, key security, cage, dealer, spa, and just about everything that could be imagined that goes on in a casino. I've saved the company countless hours of downtime during my manning phone calls because I learn from prior calls and apply gained knowledge to new calls. I come up with ideas that no one with less experience could possibly come up with.

I may have been overly confident in the interview. Maybe thats what it was. The day isn't over with, but damn, I need this job and I want this job -- I would so enjoy it.

GRRRR, IT'S 2PM! Give me a call. I don't want a form letter saying it was nice interviewing you, but you suck more than another guy we interviewed.

Please. Please, give me a job. I'd like to move to the coast, but I'd also like to have a job I can transfer to in a few years when I move to the coast.

Please. send warm thoughts my way. The day isn't over.

Why do you think teenagers are involved in more car crashes than any other age group?

Car Loan [02 May 2009|06:05pm]
I maybe laid off, but Friday's paycheck included -- and here is the irony -- a "signing bonus". My signing bonus was paid half on day one and half 4 months later... I lasted 4 months. . . heh.

So, I write a check today with "thousand" in the words and mailed it off to Keesler. After I post this I'll be shredding the next years worth of payment vouchers.

wohoo! I'm a car owner... once everything clears and my title is mailed. :-)

Weigh in week 5 [24 Feb 2009|02:20pm]
Weight-in: 279
Lost this week: 1 pound
Total Lost: 11 pounds

This past week was a phentermine on week. My ONLY screw up was last night a friend I havent seen in a while wanted to have lunch. Being that it was 4am in the morning, we ended up at Steak and Shake... and you can't goto Steak and Shake and NOT get a shake... So my meal last night was a chicken taco salad and (whimper) a Strawberry shake (/whimper).

This week will be harder, b/c it'll be my week without phentermine. I'm alternating if you haven't noticed. The Doctor OK'd it. Last time I was off phentermine I had to take twice as many veggies to work to overcome hunger.

I'm slowly trying to figure things out with how to make myself feel fill. Fat makes me more full than carbs and fruit is wayyy better than candy. The Glycemic index is being learned.

Wait... I let that happen? [23 Feb 2009|08:34pm]
I saw the shrink today. While we were talking he was fighting with his laptop. I was his first patient of the day... by time the end of the session came he finally got word started, but had trouble opening the document with my notes. I suppose Word 2003 is cheaper than any patient record program out there. :P

Anyhow, he blamed it on Symantec 360. He recently installed it. He was getting angry and started considering a mac. I mentioned that most laptops now-a-days dont have pink parallel ports on the back, so he may just consider upgrading. I didnt check out the specs.

Anyhow, when I left, I told his daughter that this is my first doctors visit of the year and I owe my $125 deductible. She charges me $109. $8 balance from last year and $101 for todays extended visit. We did talk for a while, but we would have talked less had his laptop been working better.

Apparently his daughter times her dad's patient visits and anything over 15m gets a $41 extended time charge.

Damn. . . Symantec 360 cost me $41 bucks. and I let it happen. I love my shrink though, so it's all good.

Weigh in week 4 [18 Feb 2009|05:31pm]
Weight-in: 283
Weight Loss This week: -2 (booo!)
Weight loss total: 7 pounds!

My roomie made red beans and rice monday, the day before my weigh-in. Also, I found out I like the taste of Fiberchoice and over indulged in them. A side effect of taking 8 times the recommended dosage is bloating... between fiberchoice, red beans and rice, plus super-gas that came with it all, I believe that explains why I came in 2 pounds over last weeks weight. I did alright all week, cept sunday/monday. So the excess fiber intake is about the only reasonable explaination.

I also would NOT goto the gym monday night. I was afraid my cats would be asphyxiated from sleeping with me from the beans and fiberchoice. They have been extremely lazy this weekend, so they may have suffered some sort of gas-related injury. I wasn't about to subject gym folks to my musical.

I am holding true to my once-a-week weigh in. So, we'll see what happens next tuesday. I'm hopefully for 4 pounds. 2 pounds from this week and 2 pounds next week. I know I have 2 pounds loss somewhere in there from this week.

Tax Refunds [17 Feb 2009|07:29am]
I hear the swooosh as irs.gov has it's w-4 file downloaded so much it's burning a hole in a cache somewhere.

Now that California has indicated it will delay processing of state income tax refunds how many people will be changing their w-4 so this doesn't happen next year?

California better pay out the refunds. They get a great benefit of money they can use and later don't have to pay out with interest from the idiots that overpay their income tax for that "savings" account that pays out at the end of the year.

If they delay paying out this years refund, they will have a huge deficient for years to come as everyone changes their taxes so they OWE at the end of the year.

Once I got to the year of reason I started filling out my w-4's so I break even at the end of the year. This year I got thrown into a higher tax bracket, so I owed $277, but my taxes over the past several years have turned out that I either owe $20 bucks or so or, if I went to school, got a tiny bit back.

Californian's are changing their W4-s right now I bet. If they're smart.

taxes are paid [11 Feb 2009|06:00am]
My income taxes are paid. $277 paid to the gov't.

This is the most I've had to pay into the government, I figure it's b/c I got kicked into a higher tax bracket -- I haven't checked the schedule to see, but this is also the most money I've made EVER. Mostly due to extra income for my severance package / signing bonuses.

Heh, weird, had it not been for me getting laid off I wouldn't have made near as much.

Weight in week 3 [11 Feb 2009|02:45am]
Weight: 281lbs.
Weight Loss this week: -1 lbs
Total Lost: 9 pounds!

I cheated yesterday. I stopped by waffle house and had a bowl of bert's chili with cheese, onions, peppers, tomatoes and a cherry coke.

I've also worked to get rid of some of the pre-diet junk food in the house. So I'm getting rid of some of that, which hasn't helped any either.

Also, during my days off my exercise hasn't been up to par. I got back from my first gym visit since wed. I'm considering NOT starting phentermine up again, at least until I go down to the coast this sunday. I won't be able to keep up my diet while asking my mom to make some tomato gravy and rice.

we'll see what next week brings.

Weigh in week 2 [04 Feb 2009|02:12am]
I'm not sure what happened Tuesday, but apparently I skipped it.

I did manage to wake up just a bit after midnight, so this is an unofficial weighin.

So, this week's weigh:

Weight: 280lbs.
Weight Loss this week: 4 lbs
Total Lost: 10 pounds!

I am going to quit Phentermine for a week. Phentermine loses it's pep after so long, so next week I'll start it back up and hopefully it'll have it's pep back.

I did cheat Sunday. My roomie made chicken tacos and I had 3 tacos with sour cream and refried beans. I also had a single serve Ben and Jerry's cookie dough. Thank goodness Ben and Jerry's make single serve. Otherwise I'd have to eat an entire pint. I didnt have anything else that day, so I suppose I'm ok.

Tuesday morning, before I pissed it away, I decided to get rid of some of the unhealthy food I had in the house before I started the diet. I got rid of 2 left over Toaster Strudel and a bag of Act II popcorn. An extra 600 calories, but I also burned 500 cal at the gym.

With me quiting Phentermine next week my weigh loss may not be up to par. Later this morning I'm gonna pile up on low calorie veggies to keep my gut full so I can control my appetite.

Keep it secret! [02 Feb 2009|10:59am]
If Obama sets up a "bad bank" to keep "Toxic assets", then do the people's loans/financing that gets dumped into the "Bad bank" become aware they are mixed in with other toxic assets?

I hope not. If I found out my accounts were moved to a "bad bank" I'd stop paying my bills. afterall, the "bad bank" already expects the assets to goto crap.

They can set up a bad bank, but have the account continue to be serviced by the greedy-made-bad-loans-in-the-first-place banks so people continue to pay their bills. else we'll be in a world of trouble... thanks, fractional reserve system that depends on the existence of debt!

wait. wouldn't I *like* deflation? My money would go further... ? I'm so confused. Why can't we just buy and sell cigarettes like prisoners ?

weight update [27 Jan 2009|09:33am]
Today's weight: 284
Weight loss: 6 pounds!!!!

The closest I got to cheating was I had takeout from Chili's last night. I had the guiltless Carna Asada Steak and 5 boneless buffalo wings with a small amount of blue cheese. Of course this replaced my allowance of a single reasonable dinner, so it was only slightly cheating. Chili says the Guiltless menu items contain less than 750 calories. The buffalo wings probably thru that over 1000 calories... so... ok, it's cheating. So much for Guiltless.

The rest of the time, I didn't cheat. I followed slim-fast.com to the T.

One thing that would have affected this weeks weight change is Detox 7. I started Detox 7 last Monday (Started slimfast wednesday) and finished it last night. That stuff does a good job of cleaning me out, but unsure how much it influenced my weight change. I'd hope the slim fast influenced my weight more so than the Detox. I'll find out next week.

I didn't do a good job of exercise like I promised. I worked out Wednesday and I didn't do "Disco Sweat" at all like I had promised. My excuse is that Im working 12.5 hr shifts at work. On my days off I ended up suffering from headaches. I slept all of sunday away. Poor Ralph even messaged me asking if I was dead. :(

I found out also that the Detox 7 can cause headaches. So, this week, I hope to be doing much better on exercising.
